Can you believe Thanksgiving has past and the children only have four weeks of school left until Winter Break? Our children finished their 10 week study of the 12 Powers through the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and graduated from Lumindorf school the end of November. It was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had while teaching Sunday School at Unity. I loved seeing the children’s spiritual learning grow each week as well as the joy they were having while learning the lessons and doing the crafts. A special thank you to Jaque Batchelor and Mesha Brightwood for their talents, skills, and love that they provided during this unit.
The children created a box with their weekly 12 Powers crafts which was completed during the last lesson. The boxes are labeled along with their wands and are ready to bring home so please make sure next time your child is in Sunday School, you pick them up. It’s a great opportunity to sit down with your child and talk about the 12 Powers and how they experience God’s grace in their daily life and overcome challenges/problems.
We are pleased to announce that we now have a Youth/Family assistant, Elise Bullion. Elise is a nanny full-time and loves working with our little ones in the nursery as well as assisting the teachers in the classroom. We are lucky to have her with us!
I strongly believe that our bright, wonderful children should be engaging in acts of service. This helps them to understand a world outside of their own and lets their light shine to bring help and kindness to others. I am asking each family to make Christmas cookies, brownies, baked goods with a holiday theme to bring to church on Sunday, 12/17. I will need the children to stay and volunteer to sell the baked goods until about 1 pm. All donations will go directly to World Vision to purchase: chickens, ducks, and a goat for a family in need.
Our new Christmas curriculum on Advent begins on Sunday 12/3. The children will be lighting a candle each week and learning about the holy season of Advent in a four week curriculum. We will be doing holiday themed crafts each week which the children will love creating. Please join us!
There are no morning services on Sunday, 12/24 and Sunday, 12/31 as the service for both days are at 7pm. Sunday School is not in session but children are welcome to attend these services with their families. If you haven’t experienced Christmas Eve service or the Burning Bowl Service on New Year’s at UCCL, you’re in for a treat!
During this Christmas season of love, thank you for providing us with the gift of your children and family. We love seeing the children’s faces each week and getting to know each one of them. Their joy is infectious! Also, gratitude to each of our Unity teachers and angels who volunteer weekly to make sure each child has a wonderful experience at Sunday School.
