"The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.”
- Harriet Ann Jacobs
Spring is here! It’s a time of renewal and spiritually time to shed our old believes that no longer serve us and revive our spirits and souls with Christ Consciousness. This is a perfect lesson as we celebrate Easter. Our Easter lesson was focused on the positive, metaphorical story of Christ’s existence, death and lessons we learn. Children will learn by Christ’s example that whenever we need to we can pray or meditate and connect with Christ Consciousness (kindness, love, compassion). After the lesson and craft, they participated in our Easter Egg Hunt which was great fun!
We are continuing with our Joyful Path curriculum that is a progressive look at traditional Biblical stories and values. Last week, we worked on Peace Be Still and focusing on being still in the storms that sometimes feel overwhelming in life. The other lessons this month include a focus on patience, acts of service and blessings for others.
Sunday, April 29th is Family Sunday and Rev. Yvonne has planned a treat for families. Children will sit in the first two rows during service and will act as ushers/greeters for the service. We have secured Lesley Smith for our special presenter. From her website, “Leslie has been motivating and inspiring audiences for over two decades as a National Foundation for the Arts performing artist, motivational speaker and producer of uplifting and transformational entertainment. As a humor ambassador of love and joy, Lesley integrates her unusual gifts as a world class ventriloquist, singer/songwriter, actress, comedian and healer, to provide audiences with a "new lens" to shift their perspectives on themselves and their lives. Unstoppable commitment and the power to believe in yourself, are just a few of the byproducts of her live entertainment and musical performances.” We are very much looking forward to Youth and Family Sunday with Lesley.
We are so happy that so many of our regular congregants continue to be generous in their love offering into our bread/baked goods fund to sponsor our child. We sponsor Nafissa, a five-year-old, who lives in Niger. She lives 600+ miles from the nearest city, has six brothers/sisters and her father struggles as a farmer with frequent drought conditions. Our children will be soon sending letters, pictures to communicate and support Nafissa. We sponsor Nafissa through World Vision International. This sponsorship allows the children to see what conscious giving can do for another child and how important it is to share and give.
If you are a parent and would like to give back your talent to our Sunday School, I would love to have you as an angel or a teacher. As our program grows, we are in need of volunteers on Sundays to make sure our children have a wonderful experience that helps them to grow spiritually. Please contact Jen in church or at: email@example.com for more information.
