Who would think when Helena Brook and I started the Tarot group three years ago that it would expand to the point where we had so many people we would have to move from the children's church into the sanctuary?
That was in February. We had a wonderful group of people — 22, the most ever! — with an interest in Tarot and all things metaphysical. You all know the warmth and joy that comes from sharing what you love with others. That's what our Tarot sessions are like.
Since there is so much interest, it's time to expand into two circles: Tarot Light and Tarot Illumination.
Tarot Light will deal with Tarot in a more introductory form, as well as Tarot rituals, ceremonies and meditations. This is also the venue for other metaphysical topics of interest.
Tarot Illumination will serve as a circle for a serious study of the cards: archetypes, history, the Major Arcana, the Pip cards, the Court cards, the Celtic Cross, etc. This will allow those who want to really study the Tarot the opportunity to do so at a deep level.
Both circles will operate on a sharing basis. Those who are part of the group are encouraged to take a topic they know or want to learn more about and present information to the circle. We'll also invite speakers, so we can tap into their expertise.
Tarot Light will meet on the first Saturday of each month from noon to 2 p.m. Tarot Illumination will continue to meet on the third Saturday, also from noon to 2 p.m.
You're all welcome to come to one or both of the sessions, which will start with a check-in, continue with that month's topic and end with us reading cards for each other.
The first session for Tarot Light is scheduled for May 1. I'm thinking of something wonderful and fun to start the session off with. Exactly what that is I don't know yet.
The next session of Tarot Illumination is set for April 17. Alicia Crystalus will lead us in a study of the Tarot archetypes.
There is no charge to attend the circle. If you would like, you're welcome to leave a love offering to the church for the generous use of meeting space.
